I uninstalled the Shrew client from my Windows 7 64 bit machine, and reinstalled it. I was able to connect again and ping machines on the remote LAN. The subnet in my my house is 172.24.49.0 and the Shrew client works fine now --as it worked yesterday before it broke. However when I went to Starbucks yesterday and couldn't connect to the remote Cisco ASA 5510, Starbuck's wifi was on a 192.168.5.0 subnet. After trying to connect on the Starbucks wifi network yesterday, I went home and tried to connect from my 172.24.49.0 subnet. I would no longer connect. I switched to my neighbor's wifi connection (they're on a 192.168.1.0 subnet). Shrew connected but I couldn't ping any machines on the remote network. This time, when I switched back to my 172.24.49.0 subnet, everything worked fine. So --switching to the Starbucks network yesterday broke the Shrew VPN client, and after I reinstalled the software, it worked again on the 172.24.49.0 subnet, but would not work on the 192.168.1.0 subnet.
Any ideas? I can run Shrewsoft on my Windows XP IBM Thinkpad, and it works fine into the same Cisco ASA box. I'm trying to avoid having my client buy another Cisco SSL (anyconnect) license, which will cost them over $800 for another 10 licenses. That will not make them too happy. There has to be a way to get Shrew working on Windows 7 64 bit and the ASA. In the past, I've gotten the Shrew client to work with a Juniper NS 5GT, SSG5 under Windows XP and also linux. I thought I'd gotten it to work with the Cisco ASA box under Win 7 64 bit, but so far I've run into this brick wall. This must be something going on on the Win 7 64 bit OS level.
Thanks again,
Paul

> The .pcf file worked with the Cisco VPN client and connected fine to the ASA 5510. I was able to ping IP addresses on the remote LAN, use RDP on one of the remote server desktops, etc. Shrewsoft worked fine under Windows XP as well. I imported the .pcf file into Shrewsoft. It worked fine under Windows XP and the first couple of times I connected to the the ASA box running Shrewsoft under Windows 7 64 bit. However, I was told by one of the IP techs that he couldn't connect to the Cisco ASA 5510 from a Windows 7 64 bit laptop running Shrewsoft (with the same .pcf profile that worked under windows 7 64 bit. So --I decided to go to a Starbucks and try it. I brought my Macbook Pro running Parallels with Windows 7 64 loaded. I put the Xauth login in and it timed out. Never did connect. One time I was able to get it to connect, but couldn't ping anything on the remote network, and it disconnected within a minute or so. I went over to the Mac side and with the Apple's built-in VPN client, I was able to connect to the the remote Cisco ASA box and ping different address on the remote subnet.

Now when I try from home (under Windows 7 64 bit), it connects, but I can't ping anything on the other end. It still works fine under XP. I tried some different settings in the VPN client, to no avail.
