>From experience on our own company network, it seems that if the gateway of your computer locally matches that of the network you are trying to connect to, the VPN seems to 'get confused' and tries connecting to your local router instead.
Not sure if it will help or not, but if you are connecting from home to your office network, make sure that your home router has a different IP then that of the network you are connecting to.

Hello,
I have red all the posts but I can not find a possible solution for my issue.
I am using Shrew vpn client 2.1.7 on XP (SP3). I can connect but after 30 seconds or so I get the message 'session terminated by gateway'. If I do open a connection with the remote network either by opening a browser session or ping to a machine the VPN connection stays up (stable). What can be the cause of this?
