Michael,

      You said you are behind a NAT device. Could you check the timeout 
values and see if the NAT state is set for a 30 min timeout please. If 
the connection sets idle, It sounds to me like the packets are being 
blocked on the outside of your firewall. Then when a packet is passed 
outbound, it re-establishes state letting the packets pass back inbound 
again. There is a state keep-alive option in the client but maybe its 
not working correctly.
