[Vpn-help] trouble with installing shrew on vista

this is vista 32 bit sp1...
somehow things have gotten into a state where shrew cannot copy the
driver files to \system32\drivers 
even when the installer is run as an administrator.

I wanted to try to debug it by running those commands as the
administrator in the command prompt, but I could not find a log of the
installer commands anywhere.

Is there source code available for the installer? so I could see what to
test?

I suspect this is some kind of broken vista situation - it won't apply
windows updates at the moment either.
