Hi Steve,
You are running into a bug that was fixed a long time ago. The client
was indeed sending 255.255.255.255 as the identity when it should have
been sending the local address used as the tunnel endpoint ...

I'm afraid the only way to correct this issue will be to use a newer
version of the client software.
