Problem:
While connected via a Wireless Network, Laptops fail to resolve DNS names; VMWare Guest machines on the laptop fail to connect to either wired or wireless networks when DNS Proxy Service is running. Stopping Shrew DNS Proxy resolves problem. Attempt is never made to connect to the target Cisco VPN Gateway.
To Reproduce:
When using a machine on which Shrew VPN 2.1.5 has already been installed...
Connect to a wireless network (test network was a Linksys Wireless-N router in Mixed (B/G/N) mode using WPA2-Personal w/AES Encryption). Laptop Wireless NIC is running 802.11G
Start browser; attempt to browse to any page using URL instead of IP Address.
- Or -
Connect to either a wired or wireless network. Start VMware Guest. Launch Guest's web browser and attempt to connect to any page using URL instead of IP Address.
VPN Client Version = 2.1.5
Windows OS Version = Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
VMware version = VMware Workstation 7.0.1
Router = Wireless-N Gigabit Router WRT310N
Router Firmware Version = v1.0.07-LS-HND

When connected to a wired network, DNS works, web pages can be accessed, however, VMware Guests still fail to access the network.
