I've been struggling for a while with connecting to the VPN with an AT&T
USB Air card under Windows 7 64-bit. For the past few Shrew Soft betas,
it would show me the banner indicating an established VPN connection,
but there wouldn't be any connectivity (i.e. no pings, etc.). I believe
I have found a fix:
1. Uninstall the AT&T Connection Manager
2. Download the Sierra Wireless watcher for your device at:
http://www.sierrawireless.com/Support/Downloads.aspx
<http://www.sierrawireless.com/Support/Downloads.aspx> (Sierra Wireless
makes the AT&T Air Card hardware)
3. After installing the watcher, download and install the patch at:
http://www.sierrawireless.com/resources/support/drivers/build2514_driver
installer.exe
<http://www.sierrawireless.com/resources/support/drivers/build2514_drive
rinstaller.exe>
Load this software and patches, open up the Sierra Wireless Aircard
Watcher, connect to AT&T, then run ShrewSoft VPN as you would normally.
It seems there is and NDIS driver problem between windows 7 (64 bit) and
the AT&T aircard that affects VPN connectivity. You could just try
updating the drivers (and still use the AT&T Connection Manager) and see
if this works also.
Regards,
Kris
