Apologies for re-sending this, but as it's such a basic question I hope one of the members will be able to help...?
Thanks again.

Subject: Connecting automatically at boot / startup
Hi,
I've seen the posts here:
http://www.mail-archive.com/vpn-help@lists.shrew.net/msg00220.html
http://lists.shrew.net/pipermail/vpn-help/2010-January/002707.html
and I've tried placing the shortcut in the startup menu as described here:
ipsecc -r "name" [-u <name>][-p <pass>][-a]
-r site configuration name
-u connection user name
-p connection user password
-a auto connect
I've called my connection "test", so my shortcut target is:
"C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\ipseca.exe" -r test -a
I also tried
"C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\ipseca.exe" -r "test" -a
I'm not sure what the username and password are meant to be since this is ipsec not PPTP, right?
So Shew does launch at startup but it does not connect automatically.
(by the way the executable file is ipseca.exe and not ipsecc.exe as in the example).
Can you please give me an example of the correct command line?
Many thanks
