it's a pretty recent revision (checking)...7.31.1025.2010, which
apparently has only recently been superceded.

i also have openVPN adapter installed, though i haven't used it in ages.
i wonder if uninstalling that might have any effect. i've kept it in
place just in case an old client ever needed assistance again - but i
can always reinstall...

haven't tried stop/start of the ike/ipsec services, will give it a try.
