if you're running windows, create a batch file with the following in it, 
and save it on your desktop:

net stop ipsecd
net stop iked
net start iked
net start ipsecd

name it 'fix_shrew.bat' or something. run it after your machine has come 
out of sleep. you'll work fine after that.
