Update to my original message: I installed shrew to my XP box and it worked exactly as expected. So the issue is W7 and shrew. Can someone point me to some docs that might fix the issue I'm having? Also, I did the netsh wlan commands (to turn off the virtual wifi) I found on the web to no effect. Alan
