[vpn-help] Use a virtual adapter and random address not randomizing

Hi Alexis,

in situations where I can control it and keep proper track of it then fixed IP addresses is definitely better since I can for sure avoid a conflict, even though I need to keep track of the IP addresses somehow manually.

But often it is necessary to give out the config file and then people configure their devices themselves and if they change the fixed IP address on a second device to another one they might hit one that is already given out. For this and other situations the random address is perfect and I think a great feature of ShrewSoft VPN Client.

Is a “formal” bug report necessary or is Matthew following these threads anyway?

Cheers

Dominik

Hi!

I setup the ShrewSoft VPN client Version 2.2.2 to “Use a virtual adapter and random address” but I have the problem that the client obviously does not randomize the used IP address but instead uses the one that is standing there default 198.18.0.0 (which isn’t an IP address but a network).

I tested this with Windows 7 64-Bit and Windows 8 64-Bit – same behaviour.

Am I doing something wrong or is this indeed a bug?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Cheers

Dominik
