[Vpn-help] smb share

Hello. This may or may not be a VPN related issue...

I have the shrewsoft VPN client set up to connect to a dialup VPN on a netscreen firewall, using PSK and XAuth. This works fine. When connected via the VPN I can ping a fileserver we have, and can also access its web config page. However, any attempt to map it in windows gives a "Windows cannot find \\...." error, even when using the IP address.

>From the cmd window, I tried net use \\IP_ADDRESS<file:///\\IP_ADDRESS> and got

"System error 67 has occurred.
The network name cannot be found"

But "ping IP_ADDRESS" works fine

It seems strange that I can pin and access the web interface, but not the share. From a machine actually on the local network, I can access the share as above without any problems...

Any ideas?
