Ditto.. same problem here, but only on my wireless connection - I can't get any DNS resolution with Shrew installed. Uninstalling Shrew gives me access back. Manually setting DNS servers on my wireless network connection does not help. This started after I experienced a BSOD (I get these occasionally now. I suspect Shrew is causing it but I have no proof!).

Interestingly, my wired connection does not exhibit the same problem. Additionally, if I connect to my work office VPN via IP (using Windows VPN, not Shrew) DNS resolution works fine, although all traffic goes across the Win VPN connection so is far from ideal.

Running 2.1.6-beta-7, Win 7 Ultimate x64.

Hope this helps...

Subject: [vpn-help] Another report of Lost network connectivity Win7 x64

Problem description: Fri 2010-04-23 Windows 7 lost internet connectivity without VPN software running, problem was traced to DNS failing to respond. Problem temporary solved by unbinding the 'Shrew Soft Lightweight Filter' from the network adapters (wireless and Ethernet), then DNS lookups work again. I have not attempted to disable the DNS Proxy Daemon service yet as mentioned in http://lists.shrew.net/pipermail/vpn-help/2010-April/003169.html . The laptop receives it's IP addresses and DNS servers via DHCP, and no changes have been made to laptop other than April 2010 Microsoft Security Bulletins and normal McAfee VirusScan (provided by Cox.net) updates (VirusScan 13.15.117, SecurityCenter 9.15.175, PersonalFirewall 10.15.106).

Perhaps the Shrewsoft DNS proxy software has a certificate or other time sensitive component that has expired and caused these issues?

VPN Client Software: vpn-client-2.1.5-release.exe and vpn-client-2.1.6-beta-7.exe (uninstalled 2.1.5 cold boot, installed 2.1.6 beta 7)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Cisco VPN server details unknown, using known working PCF file _______________________________________________
