[vpn-help] Storage of VPN client settings

I have been asked by the following question during an IT security audit.

Is there any data stored? If so, how / where is it stored? Is it stored
securely / encrypted?  (Be specific)

We're using pre-shard key to authenticate so I'm sure there is interest in
the storage of that data.

Can someone provide an answer to that question?
