[vpn-help] Shrewsoft 2.2.2 broke gateway connections.

Thanks for replying Neal. I tried the devmgmt.msc suggestion, but
could not remove the two devices from shrew soft. I also looked st the
Adapter and Binding tab but the internet device was already the first in
the list. I moved it down one then back to the first in the list and
rebooted. I still can't get an internet connection even after a reboot.

Sincerely,

Brian S. Wilson

Go to the network cards and all devices even ones that are not present
will be shown and can be uninstalled. The above works on Vista and above
but have not tried on old XP.

ensure your physical network card is at the top of the Connections list.
If not then use the arrows on the right to move it to the top of the
list. If using XP reboot the machine after making the change and see if
your able to access the internet again.

update, The My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Network
Adapters still shows the Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet - Shrew
Soft Miniport Filter and WAN Miniport (IP) - Shrew Soft Miniport Filter
as installed even though I had removed the product and rebooted. Both
products show a yellow triangle with an exclamation point which I'm
assuming means the software is not working as expected.

uninstalling both products (right click, uninstall), but the system
won't remove the software and says it might be needed for rebooting.
I've tried disabling the products and opening my browsers, but I still
have no internet connectivity.

General tab says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this
hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 29) Click
Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device." The
troubleshooter says to uninstall the device, but that always fails
saying it may be needed to boot the machine. I've tried rolling back the
driver, but there is no previous driver on the system.

on the driver tab, driver details button, the message that appears says

installation proceeded for several minutes then appeared to stop (for
about 30 minutes no progress was made). I tried to open two browsers
(chrome and firefox) and got messages indicating there was no internet
connection. I canceled the installation and saw some error screens flash
up which I closed.

went through the restart process several times. When it finally did come
up, I logged in and tried the browsers again with the same "no internet"
message.
