[vpn-help] Shrewsoft 2.2.2 broke gateway connections.

I downloaded and started the installation process. The installation
proceeded for several minutes then appeared to stop (for about 30
minutes no progress was made). I tried to open two browsers (chrome and
firefox) and got messages indicating there was no internet connection. I
canceled the installation and saw some error screens flash up which I
closed.

I again tried to open the browsers, but got the same "no
internet" error messages. I uninstalled the Shrewsoft package, again saw
several error messages about missing files, and rebooted when prompted.
The system shut down and when it restarted, it went through the restart
process several times. When it finally did come up, I logged in and
tried the browsers again with the same "no internet" message.

I ran
%windir%network diagnosticxpnetdiag.exe but this now gives a runtime
error after the request to turn on the gateway.

I now have no internet
connections from this machine at all and need assistance as soon as
possible.

VPN CLient: 2.2.2

Windows OS: Win XP Pro (SP3, latest
patches)

Gateway: AT&T 2701HG-B 2 Wire
